How to Drain Your Pool

Before winter comes, many homeowners choose to drain their pools. This is a process that involves several steps and is best completed by professionals, like pool service Plano Aqua Magic maintenance pros. if you choose to attempt to complete the process yourself, here are some tips.

Drain the pool water until the water level drops below the lowest wall fittings (by about 15 cm), but with the condition that at least 50 cm of water remains in the pool. If there is less than 50 cm of water in the pool, empty the pool about 20 cm below the level of the skimmers or the overflow channel drain, as appropriate. When you drain your pool, you should also clean the filter.

Open the siphon valve (if any) and close the skimmers valve or the compensation basin valve (in the case of pools with overflow system). If you do not have a siphon, empty the pool and wash the filter on the skimmers while the pump is primed. The rest of the pool draining process will be performed with a submersible pump.

Position the 6-way valve lever on the BACKWASH.

       Start the pump.

When the water level is about 15 cm below the level of the lowest wall fittings, switch off the pump, close the tap in the siphon or the compensation tank and set the 6-way valve to the WINTER position.

Ventilation of the pipes will be done with the help of an air pump with hose, and this operation can be performed on nozzles and skimmers. The holes in all pool accessories must be covered.
